Privilege

I get to wake up with no loud noises going off around me or in my home. I get to go through my closet and put on whatever outfit I can come up with that makes me feel happy and comfortable.

I get to walk outside and see clean streets with buildings standing happily. I get to walk to my local coffee shop to buy myself a cozy latte. I get to walk to my local park with my coffee at hand and not be disturbed by anyone or anything.

I get to come home and make myself brunch of my choosing. Also, if I don’t have what I want to eat in my refrigerator, I get to drive myself to Whole Foods to buy something. I get to go to Trader Joe’s to buy myself my favorite flowers. I get to come home put my flowers in vases and put them where they look most beautiful.

I get to call my family to see how their day is going. I get to not worry if a bomb will be dropped on them tomorrow. I get to know where they will be tomorrow. They will be home. I will be home. This is all because I am privileged.

I am grateful to be so blessed. I pray that the simple privilege of living life is brought back to all. I pray this world stops its violence towards each other. I hope I get the privilege of seeing this genocide come to an end.
