100 miles

At the beginning of this month, I didn’t know if I was going to make it to 100 miles ( my challenge for this month). I work so much that my brain and body is constantly exhausted. To add to that, I live in Ohio at the moment and temperature drops so low and there is snow or rain coming down this time of year.

Yet, I still pushed myself and at times had to take it easy and instead of running I decided the 100 miles can be a combination of walk, jogs, and runs. It really did bother me to change my exceptions but that’s just what I can handle physically and mentally this time around.

I’ve done this challenge multiple times with my record of running 100 miles within 15 days. So I was trying my best to not compare myself to how much better and quicker I have reached my goal previously.

This time I was forced to be more realistic. I had surgery this year. I have gained more responsibility at work. My body is still getting back to being my physical self from before the surgery. And well mentally, I come home so drained. This doesn’t mean I can’t do what I want, it just means I need to be patient and trust the process. Good things take time.

Now I’m at 94 miles down and getting my last 6 miles today the 31st. I almost thought I wouldn’t even get it done but here we are. All I had to do was change my mindset and make more short walks throughout the day and my runs became 2-4 miles per day and of course I had rest days as well.

Lesson here, it’s always about your mindset. You have the power to convince yourself you can or cannot do something.  Be your own best friend and do what works best for you. Remember, stating you cannot do something right off the bat means you are telling yourself it isn’t possible. You need to have faith in yourself to be able to accomplish your goals. Anything is possible if you believe it is. So believe. That is your power.
